Preparations are in full swing for the 1st World Conference on Technology and Engineering Education, to take place in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Automatics, IT and Electronics at AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków, Poland, between 14 and 17 September 2010.

The Polish members of the Conference Committee plus other Conference supporters met in Kraków on Tuesday, 25 May 2010 at a gala lunch organised by the World Institute for Engineering and Technology Education (WIETE) at the premises of the AGH’s Foundation of the Song and Dance Assemble Krakus, to discuss the modus operandi of the Conference.

The meeting was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Antoni Cieśla; the Head of the host Department of Electrical and Power Engineering (DEPE), Prof. Stanisław A. Mitkowski, and Prof. Krzysztof Kluszczyński of Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice. Other members of the DEPE included Prof. Eugeniusz Kurgan, Prof. Wiesław Nowak and Mr Andrzej Miga, plus such Conference supporters as Dr Agnieszka Lisowska-Lis and Mr Alfred Buchelt, with the WIETE Director, Prof. Zenon J. Pudlowski, who was pleased to chair the meeting.

Participants of this meeting expressed their enthusiasm for the Conference, with the host members of the Committee pledging unequivocal support, assistance and active participation. Although envisaged to be a small international gathering, it is anticipated that the Conference will bring together particularly active members of the WIETE and those academics from the AGH who are concerned with engineering and technology education with a particular objective to exchange the ideas and establish collaborative ventures.

The working lunch was preceded by a brief meeting with Prof. Jerzy Lis, Vice-Rector for Cooperation and Development at AGH, at which Prof. S.A. Mitkowski and the WIETE Director had the opportunity to discuss various issues of interest concerning the WIETE and its partnership with the DEPE. We are pleased to inform our readers that Prof. Lis has accepted our invitation to officially open the Conference.
